TOTAL ECLIPSE
This night-time theme for somewhat eccentric evenings offers a chic, grungy style.
Materials
Surfaces are smooth yet uneven.
Transparencies are altered with cut cotton voiles. Effects include waxed, aged and whitened for gabardines, satins and canvasses, whilst popular finishes include fringed and shredded.
Prints on extremely flowing silk or cotton fabrics focus heavily on floral bouquets and stylised flowers, as if viewed through a kaleidoscope.
Colours
Solar-inspired colours are combined with the neutral tones of the Beauty in Motion theme, as well as darker colours such as brown and black. Reds are set alight and greens add a hint of sparkle, enlivened by fiery yellow and aniseed, whilst blues bring a soothing touch to the range.
Semi-plain fabrics replace, or become, the base, challenging conventions. These are fabrics reeling from a gust of frosty wind: trembling satins ripple, iridescent crepes and hammered voiles. These textiles sparkle, figured fabrics are blurred and ruffles contrast with elegant geometrics. Persian and Japanese florals, laces, nets and animal skins are printed on voiles, chiffons and georgettes : these fabrics resonate, patterns merging with barely a trace. Colours: Blue-greys (diamond grey, storm, fish-scales…), soft slate, pale or powder pink, bronze…
